Job description

In-Person Tutor is a NON-PAID, VOLUNTEER POSITION. Tutors are responsible for helping students learn or relearn concepts. Tutors should be well versed in in their subject of interest (either Language Arts or Math) as well as be performing adequately in their current relevant class. Tutors must show patience, kindness, and professionalism while on the job. Tutors are also responsible for their OWN transportation.

Job responsibilities

- Facilitating discussion and encouraging curiosity. Tutors must confirm that a student is absorbing the material by consistently asking relevant questions.

- Regularly reviewing the class curriculum to ensure that the material being taught is understood.

- Proactively leading sessions with a lesson plan based on the class curriculum (most likely an online or paper textbook) or student needs.

- Attending sessions ON-TIME and avoiding ANY absences (other than emergencies). Tutors must be available to work TWO 1.5 hour shifts a week. Tutors can choose to work early-shift (3:00 PM - 4:30 PM) and/or late-shift (4:30 PM - 6:00 PM) on any given work day.

- Openly communicating with management about any concerns or issues about student performance.

- Maintaining professionalism and academic integrity at all times.

- Tutors are responsible for their OWN TRANSPORTATION. Tutors should select to apply for the job closest to them.

Qualifications

- Minimum 3.6 GPA unweighted or equivalent.

- Must be enrolled in high-school (or equivalent).

Step 2. Wait to be notified. Qualified applicants will be contacted via email and/or phone for an interview. After the interview, selected tutors will receive an email and phone call inviting them to join the program.
